Do you really know yourself yet? Probably not … but God knows you. He wants to help you to discover the person He intented for you to become. Nicodemus was known by Jesus, but he struggled accepting who Jesus was to him. Show the “Nicodemus” video.
God dreamed of you long before you were born, long before your parents were married or even born themselves. God is eternal. Time is not a dimension that limits Him, for God made time for his creation. From the very beginning of time God knew you, planned for you, prepared for you, dreamed of your purpose in His creation. The story of Moses passing the leadership role to Joshua is tale of the end of one dream and the beginning of another dream. Moses had done all that God had dreamed for him and now it was time for Joshua to achieve God’s dream for his life, beginning with Jericho. Show the video “Randy Pausch at Oprah.”
The journey to the fulfillment of your dream will have many opportunities for you to work the dream with God. Such was the case with Moses and the Red Sea. Look for God to “engineer” situations in which your dream can grow if you trust Him. You may have to take a stand. Show the video “Moses and the Red Sea”.
The Burning Bush was a turning point for Moses. God made known His dream for Moses and the Hebrew people. While we usually don’t receive God’s dream for us in such a vivid manner, the Holy Spirit does shine a light on the dream, if we are willing to look for it.
Our lessons will be presented in the darkness of the cave where the only light is that of the Burning Bush and the “Fire of Life” campfire. In this lesson, we meet the prophet Elijah, hiding in fear of Queen Jezebel. The video recommended is “Elijah the Prophet”. We will explore much more of the prophet’s life in our last unit.
